The Anguilla flag is really two flags in one. As a British overseas territory, it makes sense that the British flag would be incorporated. It can be seen in the upper left corner of the flag. The second portion of the design includes a shield with three dolphins. The dolphins are particularly meaningful as they represent friendship, wisdom, and strength.
Although the full flag contains both of these images, the dolphin shield is often flown alone as it’s unique to Anguilla.
The current design was officially adopted on May 30, 1990. However, there have been a total of five Anguilla flag designs dating back to 1957.
